AP: ‘Thalliki Vandanam’ comes as a boon to mothers: Raghuram

Vijayawada, June 17 (UNI) Telugu Desam party NTR District President, Nettu Raghuram, said on Tuesday that the ‘Thalliki Vandanam’ scheme has come as a boon to the mothers of students in the State and money is being credited into their accounts.

Talking to the media in Jaggaiahpet, KDCC Bank Chairman, former minister and TDP NTR District President Nettu Raghuram said that the smiles on mothers’ faces in the State today are due to Minister Nara Lokesh’s initiatives.
Mothers no longer need to borrow money to pay school fees of their children as the government is disbursing money under Thalliki Vandanam, he noted.
Unable to digest this, YSRCP is spreading lies, he criticized.

The former minister revealed that under the TDP-led coalition government, every student in a household is eligible for Rs 15,000 under this scheme, he mentioned. In contrast, YSRCP limited the benefit and misled the public, betraying students during their regime, he lashed out.

Raghuram dismissed the allegation that Rs 2,000 is being siphoned by Minister Lokesh as false and malicious.
“If they have proof, they should present it. Throwing baseless accusations has become routine for YSRCP,” Raghuram slammed.

He stated that Rs 8,700 crore has been released to credit funds into mothers’ accounts under Talliki Vandanam before school reopening in the State, he said, adding that the scheme also includes students entering Grade 1 and Intermediate First Year, covering nearly 11 lakh more beneficiaries.

“Children without mothers will have funds credited to the father or legal guardian. Orphans will benefit upon verification by the District Collector. The government is ensuring full transparency, publishing eligible lists in village and ward secretariats,” N Raghuram explained.

TDP leaders Mullangi Ramakrishna Reddy, Meka Venkateswarlu, Talluri Venkateswarlu, Ginjupalli Ramesh were among those who were present.
