AP: Three notorious burglars arrested, Rs 85 lakh worth booty recovered

Ongole (Andhra Pradesh), May 5 (UNI) The police arrested a three-member notorious burglar gang and recovered gold jewellery and silver ornaments worth over Rs 85 lakh and 6 Kgs of cannabis in Podili town.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, Prakasam district Superintendent of Police AR Damodhar said the trio committed burglary in the house of Beeram Nasar Reddy on April 14 in Podili town.
Special teams were formed to arrest the burglars. The police examined the footage of CCTV cameras and got a clue that the burglars went to Prodduturu.

On a tip off that the three burglars were going to Darshi from Visakhapatnam in a car, a police team conducted checking of vehicles at SVKP College at Podili on May 4. The police team noticed a car moving suspiciously. When the police team tried to stop the vehicle, they tried to flee and in the melee the car rammed a tree.

The police rounded up the car and arrested the three burglars. The police recovered gold jewellery weighing 924.33 grams, worth Rs 81 lakh, silver ornaments weighing 3.800 kg worth Rs 4.20 lakh.
The police also recovered 6.190 kgs of ganja and a Tata Manza car.

Damodhar gave the names of the arrested burglars as Cheemparthi Fakruddin, Ch S Mahaboob Peera and G Lathif Basha. One of the arrested Cheemparthi Fakruddin is a notorious offender as he was involved in a number of crimes.
He was sent to jail under PD Act and was freed on bail on January 30. He was involved in 7 burglary cases in Nandyal, 5 in Kadapa, 2 in Bethamcherla, 2 in Tirupati, 2 in Chinnachowk, one in Kodur, one in Mydukur and one burglary in Yerraguntla.
Fakruddin was also involved in 74 red sander smuggling cases.

The second arrested burglar G Lathif Basha was involved in 16 burglaries and also in 8 red sander smuggling cases.

The SP appreciated DSPs B Lakshminarayana, Rajendra Prasad, CIs T Venkateswarulu, Shivashankar, SIs V Vemana, T Rajkumar and Arun Reddy for arresting notorious burglars and handed over them appreciation letters and announced rewards.
