Argentina to face Uruguay, Costa Rica in November

Buenos Aires, Oct 31 (UNI) Argentina will complete its 2026 international schedule with friendlies against Uruguay and Costa Rica, the Argentine Football Association (AFA) said.

The Albiceleste will face Uruguay at La Bombonera in Buenos Aires on November 13 and Costa Rica at the Mario Kempes Stadium in Cordoba four days later.
The AFA reportedly scrapped plans for away fixtures against Saudi Arabia and India during the same FIFA window due to logistical issues.
Argentina will be without former captain and eight-time Ballon d'Or winner Lionel Messi for the fixtures. The Inter Miami forward, who is Argentina's all-time leading scorer with 126 goals and its most-capped player with 208 international matches, made his farewell appearance for the Albiceleste in a 3-0 win over Benin on October 6, according to Xinhua.

Head coach Lionel Scaloni announced in September that Atletico Madrid center-back Cristian Romero would replace Messi as the new national team captain.
