Arunachal Dy CM reviews monsoon damage, reiterates govt preparedness & public safety measures

Itanagar, June 3 (UNI) In light of the widespread damages caused by incessant rains across Arunachal Pradesh, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein on Tuesday held a high-level review meeting with key officials to assess the situation and coordinate disaster response efforts.
The meeting was attended by Secretary, Disaster Management, Dani Salu, Advisor (Hydropower) Ninong Ering, and Commissioner to the Chief Minister, Sonam Chombay.
The meeting took stock of the damages reported across several districts, including the loss of lives and destruction of critical infrastructure due to landslides and flash floods triggered by relentless rainfall in recent days.
Expressing grief over the loss of lives and hardships faced by citizens, the Deputy CM emphasised the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of the people.
“It is saddening to learn about the damages caused by the incessant rains. The safety and well-being of our people remain our top priority as we confront the challenges of the monsoon together,” Mein said in a statement.
He informed that the Disaster Management Department had issued timely alerts and advisories ahead of the monsoon and continues to coordinate with all stakeholders for a proactive response. Public advisories are being issued regularly, urging citizens to remain cautious and avoid residing in vulnerable zones.
He assured that the state government remains fully prepared for any eventuality during the ongoing monsoon season, with all concerned departments mobilised to respond swiftly to emerging situations.
