Asian Games: Indian kurash athlete Yash Kumar Chauhan provisionally suspended

Nagoya, Oct 3 (UNI) In a setback to India's Asian Games campaign, kurash athlete Yash Kumar Chauhan has been provisionally suspended after an in-competition dope sample returned an adverse analytical finding for multiple prohibited substances, the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) said on Saturday.
The 24-year-old Indian's sample, collected on September 27 in Nagoya, was found to contain metabolites of Metandienone and GW1516, besides Mephentermine and its metabolite, according to the International Testing Agency (ITA), which conducted testing on behalf of the OCA.
The case has resulted in Chauhan's immediate provisional suspension under the World Anti-Doping Code and OCA Anti-Doping Rules.
The suspension bars Chauhan from competing, training, coaching or taking part in any activity during the Asian Games pending resolution of the case, the OCA said.
Metandienone, an anabolic androgenic steroid, and GW1516, a metabolic modulator, are prohibited at all times under the WADA framework. Mephentermine is a non-specified stimulant prohibited in competition.
Chauhan has the right to challenge the provisional suspension before the Court of Arbitration for Sport's Anti-Doping Division and can also request analysis of the B-sample.
The OCA said no further comments would be made while the anti-doping proceedings are under way.
Chauhan had competed in the men's 90kg kurash category, losing to Tajikistan's Mirmamadov Shakarmamad of Tajikistan in the round of 16 on September 27.
The kurash competition was held from September 26 to 29, with India securing its lone medal through Pincky Balhara, who won bronze in the women's 78kg category.
