Bengal: BJP MP accompanies deprived teachers to SSC office but fails to meet chairman

Kolkata, Apr 8 (UNI) BJP MP Abhijit Gangopadhyay, accompanied by several teachers who lost their jobs after the Supreme Court annulled the appointments of nearly 26,000 teaching and non-teaching staff in government and aided schools, visited the School Service Commission office here on Tuesday to meet chairman Siddhartha Majumdar.
However, Gangopadhyay who was unable to meet the SSC chairman as he was not present in his office, said he would return on Wednesday and attempt to explore whether there is a way to distinguish between eligible and ineligible teachers.
The BJP MP from Tamluk decided to visit the SSC office after a group of dismissed teachers approached the former Calcutta High Court judge seeking his guidance and a possible roadmap to ensure eligible candidates are not denied their rightful appointments.
