Bihar: Govt urges people to provide water to animals & birds in scorching heat

Patna, June 19 (UNI) The Bihar government has made an appeal to people to take initiatives on their own to provide safe and clean drinking water to animals and birds in scorching heat to save their lives.
Directorate of Animal Husbandary department of Bihar government, has issued general appeal to people to come forward and help birds and animals for their survival by providing safe and clean drinking water to them in scorching heat.
People should keep water in small pots outside their houses so that birds could quench thirst in scorching heat, suggested the Directorate.
"It would be a good approach of humanity if anyone takes initiative to provide water to birds, cattle and animals of his surroundings," Directorate said and noted that shrinking water bodies had created a challenge in meeting requirements of drinking water for animals, cattle and birds in scorching heat.
It was noticed that a large number of birds often fainted during summer due to dehydration and electrolyte imbalance, Directorate pointed out while emphasising the need for providing water outlets to them.
