BJP pitches Digital India Mission as Modi’s model of development

New Delhi, July 1, (UNI) On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ambitious Digital India Mission, the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) today highlighted the significant achievements of the initiative, pointing that the country now accounts for 50% of global financial transactions.

Addressing the media here, BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari while calling the Mission, a testament to the success of PM Modi’s developmental model, compared it with the opposition's approach and said how it is mired with corruption and nepotism within the INDI alliance.

He stated, "Today, the people of India are presented with two models: one is of the opposition, which is marred by corruption, dynastic politics, and appeasement. Whether it's the incidents in Himachal Pradesh or the rampant corruption in Karnataka, these are reflections of the opposition's DNA. On the other hand, PM Modi’s government stands firm on development."

Bhandari referred to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s remark made years ago that only 15 paise out of every rupee sent by the government actually reached the people, remarking that the current situation in Congress-ruled states mirrors that same inefficiency and corruption.

In contrast, the BJP leader said, Digital India has over the past decade helped transform India into a global leader in digital transactions. Bhandari also criticised the skepticism previously expressed by senior Congress leader P Chidambaram, who had doubted the viability of digital payments for the poor.

"Despite such doubts, India has now become the global leader in digital financial transactions, and this is proof of the success of the Modi government's vision," said Bhandari.

The BJP leader concluded by affirming the popularity and success of PM Modi’s governance, saying, ““The people of our country have chosen PM Modi’s government. I want to tell the Congress party and Rahul Gandhi that while their party is busy with corruption, the Modi government is focused on building a Digital India. In the last 10 years, over 50% of global digital transactions have taken place in India. This clearly shows the success of PM Modi’s growth model... INDI alliance may have different meanings, but PM Modi’s BJP stands for ‘Vikas’ (development).” UNI AJ SSP
