Celebrities flout new dress code on opening night of Cannes Film Fest

Cannes, May 15 (UNI) Sartorial defiance took on a rebellious hue as the world's most celebrated cinema showcase the Cannes Film Festival unfurled its iconic red carpet along the sun-drenched Croisette.
The updated guidelines, aimed at preventing crowding and maintaining decorum, restrict see-through outfits and "excessively voluminous" dresses with long trains. Halle Berry, dutifully obeyed the restrictions. “I had an amazing dress by (Gaurav) Gupta that I cannot wear tonight because it’s too big of a train,” the actor said at a news conference. “I’m not going to break the rules.”
However, supermodel Heidi Klum and Chinese actor Wan QianHui clearly ignored the new restrictions. While Klum swept in wearing a petal- inspired Elie Saab creation with a flowing train, QianHui looked stunning in a billowy Wang Feng couture tulle gown, CNN reported.
Model Bella Hadid embraced subversion with subtlety. She arrived at the same premiere in a slinky Saint Laurent gown that was a playful wink to the nudity ban with its exaggerated thigh-high slit, debuting honey-blonde tresses.
Actor Jeremy Strong opted for a dusty rose tuxedo. Earlier in the day, he was spotted in a matching tracksuit and bucket hat, proving that Cannes remains a place for bold choices, despite the new restrictions.
