Chandigarh contract workers seek salary by 7th of every month on Haryana Skill Corporation pattern

Chandigarh, Oct 3 (UNI) A demand to ensure payment of salaries to contractual employees working in Chandigarh Administration departments and government institutions by the seventh of every month, on the pattern of the Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam, has gained momentum, with senior BJP leader Sanjay Tandon taking up the issue with Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria.
Tandon said contractual workers were facing financial hardship because of delays in salary payments, sometimes stretching for months, even though regular government employees receive their salaries at the beginning of the month. He claimed that delays in depositing EPF and insurance contributions had also been reported in some departments.
During his meeting with Kataria, Tandon sought strict enforcement of an earlier Chandigarh Administration directive requiring wages of contractual employees to be paid by the seventh of every month.
