Congress burn effigies of Nitish Kumar to protest death of rape victim

Patna, June 1 (UNI) Congress on Sunday burnt effigies of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Health Minister Mangal Pandey to protest against death of a rape victim due to negligence during treatment in Patna Medical College and Hospital.
A large number of workers and senior Congress leaders including president of Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee (BPCC) Rajesh Ram were present near Income Tax round-about in Patna when effigies of Chief Minister Kumar and Health Minister Pandey were burnt to protest against death of a minor rape victim during treatment in Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) in Patna.
Rajesh Ram told media persons on the occasion that a nine year old girl was raped in Kurhni in Muzaffarpur district of Bihar on May 26. An attack was also made on girl causing grievous injuries to more than 20 spots of her body, he added.
" Victim was being treated in a local hospital despite her serious condition, and she was rushed to Patna after intervention of Congress", he said, adding that she was neither admitted to All India Institute of Medical Sciences(AIIMS) in Patna nor PMCH. She was left uncared for hours in an ambulance on the premises of PMCH and admitted on Saturday, when he had intervened, he pointed out.
" On Sunday morning, rape victim succumbed to her injuries due to delay and negligence in treatment and callous attitude of Nitish Kumar government", Congress leader said adding that both Chief Minister Kumar and Health Minister Pandey were to be blamed for her death.
Rajesh Ram said that law and order had totally collapsed under regime of Nitish Kumar government. Criminals were striking at their will while government was sitting as silent spectator, he lamented.
