Nizamabad, June 22 (UNI) Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud on Sunday stated that the Congress government in Telangana has successfully completed one and a half years in power, earning the people's blessings through its commitment to welfare and development.
Speaking at a Kalyana Lakshmi cheque distribution program in Nizamabad, Goud highlighted the government's dual vision of development and welfare, despite facing financial constraints.
“From free bus travel for women to subsidized rice distribution, our government is consistently delivering on its promises,” he said.
He sharply criticised the previous BRS regime under former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, accusing it of pushing the state into a severe debt trap.
“Not even a single new ration card was issued during KCR’s ten-year rule,” he pointed out. “In contrast, the Congress government is set to issue 17 lakh new ration cards to ensure food
security for all.”
Goud also mentioned the Congress government’s renewed focus on housing.
“KCR failed to build double-bedroom houses despite lofty promises. Under the Indiramma Housing Scheme, we are providing financial assistance to both double-bedroom and land-owning house builders,” he added.
He emphasised that farmers remain a top priority, noting that Rythu Bandhu funds were recently credited directly into farmers' accounts.
“Politics ends with elections. Our focus post-elections is purely on public welfare,” he asserted.
Highlighting the government’s vision for Nizamabad, Goud said the Congress is striving to restore the district’s past glory by providing necessary infrastructure and facilities.
“Integrated schools are being established in every constituency with an investment of Rs 200 crore,” he announced.
He reaffirmed that the Congress government is dedicated to district development, setting aside party lines and working in the best interest of the people.
