Day temperatures above normal at isolated places over West Bengal & Sikkim

Pune, May 31(UNI) Day temperatures were appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at isolated places over Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, west Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, east Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.

The day temperatures above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at isolated places over Odisha, Bihar, east Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat region and Saurashtra and Kutch and near normal (-1.5°C to 1.5°C) at many places over Gangetic West Bengal, Konkan and Goa and coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam; at most places over Andaman and Nicobar Islands and west Rajasthan; at few places over Uttarakhand; at isolated places over Jharkhand, east Rajasthan and west Madhya Pradesh.

On Friday, the highest maximum temperature of 43.6°C was reported at Jaisalmer (west Rajasthan).



The Southwest Monsoon has been vigorous over Kerala and active over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. It has been subdued over south interior Karnataka.



Rain or thundershowers have occurred at most places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh and Kerala and at many places in Odisha, coastal Andhra Pradesh, coastal Karnataka and Lakshadweep and at a few places in Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Rayalaseema and at isolated places in Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Gujarat region, Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Tamil Nadu, north interior Karnataka and south Interior Karnataka.

Mainly dry weather has prevailed in Saurashtra and Kutch and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Following observations for the past 24 hrs were recorded at 0830 hrs on Saturday.
