DDA initiates rehab process for JJ clusters under Delhi Master Plan 2047

New Delhi, Oct 7 (UNI) The Delhi Development Authority has initiated the In- Situ rehabilitation process of the JJ clusters, (Jhuggi Jhopdi) as part of the Delhi Master Plan 2047 under Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Sandhu’s guidance.
The move is not only aimed to provide dignified living to the slum dwellers of the city, but also give way to a large housing stock and commercial space for a larger population in the national capital.
In this connection, the land agency has floated a request for proposal (RFP) for the appointment of three Transaction Advisors who will prepare feasibility reports for a total of 15 projects covering 45 JJ clusters across the city.
They will assess rehabilitation requirements, development potential, infrastructure needs, financial viability and suitable implementation models for systematic and sustainable implementation of the projects.
The RFP has been invited from firms empanelled with the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA), National Land Monetization Corporation (NLMC).
Guided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, the MPD 2047 provides for dignified housing for all through the rehabilitation of approximately 17 lakh people, who reside in over 650 JJ clusters across Delhi.
These projects encompass clusters comprising approximately 21,229 households over 135.74 acres of land.
The feasibility reports will provide the technical and financial basis for structuring and implementing the projects in a systematic, transparent and sustainable manner.
The initiative marks an important step towards the planned transformation of the identified slums.
Under Sandhu’s guidance, the land agency has stepped up works to improve the overall infrastructure across the city, prioritising the underprivileged settlements where the living conditions have been unworthy for a long time.
