Delhi CM Rekha Gupta inspects Okhla landfill, calls for scientific waste management

New Delhi, Oct 3 (UNI) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday inspected the Okhla landfill site and reviewed progress on waste disposal, land reclamation and the capacity of new waste-processing facilities, stressing the need to prevent fresh garbage from accumulating into new landfill mountains.
Gupta held discussions with senior officials on the status of waste disposal, the area of land reclaimed so far and the capacity of newly established processing units.
The Chief Minister said the mountains of garbage that had accumulated across Delhi over the years due to prolonged neglect were now being reduced through sustained efforts by the government.
