Delhi Cong alleges irregularities in ration distribution system, submits memorandum to CM

New Delhi, June 25 (UNI) Expressing concern over alleged irregularities and the hardships faced by the public in Delhi’s ration distribution system, the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) today submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.
The memorandum, which outlined five key demands, was presented by DPCC senior spokesperson Naresh Kumar.
A copy of the memorandum was also sent to Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena, seeking higher-level intervention to ensure timely relief for the people of Delhi.
The Congress reminded the BJP of its election promise to issue 90 lakh ration cards, while pointing out that the current cap stands at 72 lakh, many of which are inactive. The party demanded that the cap be raised to 90 lakh and that new ration cards be issued to ensure food security for those in need.
Citing the limited number of ration shops in the capital, the memorandum highlighted that residents are forced to wait in long queues. With only around 1,982 ration shops currently operational, the Congress urged the government to increase this number to 2,500 to improve accessibility and streamline the distribution system.
The third demand focused on simplifying and making the process of adding names to ration cards more transparent. The party alleged that technical glitches and cumbersome procedures have prevented many eligible citizens from being included in the system.
Additionally, the Congress called for timely and complete distribution of ration supplies to all beneficiaries.
Raising concerns about migrant beneficiaries, Naresh Kumar claimed that due to technical issues with the INPDS server, many migrants were unable to receive their ration in May and June. He demanded that the pending quota be compensated in July and August.
Naresh Kumar also warned the Delhi government that if these demands are not addressed promptly, the Delhi Congress would launch protests to raise the voice of the people. UNI RBE SSP
