Delhi to restrict entry of non BS-6 compliant vehicles registered outside city from Nov 1- Jan 31

New Delhi, Oct 26 (UNI) As part of stricter measures to combat winter air pollution, and deterioration of the Air Quality Index, Delhi is to restrict the entry of non BS-VI compliant vehicles registered outside the city from November 1- January 31, 2027.
Earlier CM Rekha Gupta had stated that Delhi is acting early and firmly against winter pollution, and from November 1 to January 31, non-Delhi vehicles below BS-6 norms will not be allowed to enter.
This move is set to affect a large number of vehicles that are registered in the NCR cities, including Noida, Gurugram from entering Delhi during this specific period.
A large number of vehicles registered in these cities are still below the BS VI emission norms, as the BS- VI came into effect in the year April 2020.
Notably, the 'No valid Pollution Under Control Certificate (PUCC), No Fuel' policy will be strictly followed across fuel stations, and fuel will not be provided at the pumps to vehicles that do not have a valid PUC certificate.
In addition, special cameras have been installed at fuelling stations that read the registration of the vehicle and help identify whether it has a valid PUC or not.
Meanwhile, the Winter Action Plan of the Delhi government will remain in force from November 1 to February 28, with construction and demolition curbs, AI-based site monitoring, and various other measures.
According to the officials, cleaner mobility through Electric buses, Metro, last-mile connectivity and carpooling will support this effort towards pollution prevention.
Meanwhile, CNG and electric vehicles are exempted in this, along with those emergency vehicles that have been specified as per the regulations, like ambulances, fire tenders etc.
The applicable orders of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) and the Supreme Court concerning restrictions on the plying of overage diesel and petrol vehicles, along with other restrictions prescribed as per rules will be strictly implemented.
The Transport Department will ensure prominent banners, display boards and public information material at border checkpoints to inform motorists and interstate transport operators about applicable pollution-control restrictions.
Recently Delhi Environment Minister and Traffic Police held meetings with the stakeholders concerned, including officials from the neighboring states, with regard to coordination during the period when the restrictions and GRAP measures are going to be in force in wake of pollution prevention.
At present, the Stage- l of the anti-pollution plan GRAP, of the Commission for Air Quality Management in the Delhi- NCR, is in force, and agencies concerned have been directed to strictly enforce the same.
