Delhi woman arrested in Bahadurgarh honey trap case involving Rs 13 lakh extortion demand

Bahadurgarh, Oct 24 (UNI) Police have arrested a Delhi-based woman in connection with an alleged honey trap and extortion racket in which a Bahadurgarh businessman was threatened with a false molestation case unless he paid Rs 13 lakh to settle the matter, officials said on Saturday.
The latest arrest has taken the number of accused apprehended in the case to four, including a minor, as investigators continue to probe the alleged conspiracy and identify others who may have been involved.
A team from Sector-6 police station arrested the woman after examining evidence and establishing her suspected involvement in the case.
According to Sector-6 Station House Officer Sub-Inspector Satyaveer Singh, the case surfaced after a Bahadurgarh resident complained that a young woman who had approached his office seeking employment subsequently accused him of molestation.
Police said the complainant alleged that the accusation was used to pressure him into paying Rs 13 lakh to settle the matter and prevent further legal action.
During the initial investigation, police laid a trap and apprehended three accused, including a minor, while they were allegedly accepting Rs 3 lakh from the complainant.
The police also recovered the cash, mobile phones and a Honda City car allegedly used in the offence.
Investigators subsequently examined the available evidence, financial dealings and suspected links between those involved, leading to the arrest of the Delhi-based woman.
Police said the arrested woman is being interrogated to establish her precise role in the alleged extortion conspiracy and determine whether other individuals were involved.
The investigation is also examining how the alleged plot was organised and whether the accused had targeted other individuals through similar methods.
Further investigation is underway.
