Dev Deepawali to anchor 4-day Kashi Tourism trail under UP’s ‘Visit My State’ campaign

Lucknow, Oct 21 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh is curating a four-day tourism itinerary around Dev Deepawali under its ‘Visit My State’ campaign, combining Varanasi’s illuminated ghats with Kashi’s temple circuit, heritage walks and the Buddhist heritage of Sarnath.
The four-day, three-night “Dev Deepawali: Divya Kashi Anubhav” itinerary, prepared by the Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation (UPSTDC), offers visitors an organised way to explore the city alongside its riverfront festival. The approach places Dev Deepawali within a wider tourism experience, encouraging visitors to spend time at destinations across Kashi.
UP Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh on Wednesday said the initiative would connect visitors from India and abroad with the city’s living traditions.
“Dev Deepawali is a celebration of Kashi’s ancient traditions and cultural splendour. Our effort is to help visitors experience its spiritual significance while strengthening Kashi’s distinctive identity on the global tourism map,” Singh said.
The itinerary begins with a welcome at Varanasi airport or railway station, followed by hotel check-in, evening darshan at Kashi Vishwanath Dham, and Ganga Aarti. The following day includes a morning Ganga boat ride, visits to Vishalakshi, Annapurna and Kal Bhairav temples, and an excursion to Sarnath.
Dev Deepawali will be the centrepiece of the third day. A special Ganga boat experience will allow visitors to view the ghats illuminated with diyas from the river and witness the festival’s decorations and cultural celebrations. A heritage walk also forms part of the programme.
Additional Chief Secretary, Tourism, Culture and Religious Affairs, Amrit Abhijat, said organised itineraries could extend the economic benefits of religious tourism to local communities.
“The objective is to connect visitors with Kashi’s spiritual, cultural and historical heritage while providing quality travel facilities. The initiative will also support local economic activity and employment opportunities and take Uttar Pradesh’s heritage to a wider international audience,” he said.
The package is available in three accommodation categories: Budget, with standard hotels, at Rs 15,999 per person; Deluxe, with three-star hotels, at Rs 21,999; and Premium, with four- or five-star hotels, at Rs 31,999. Rates are based on twin sharing, with GST additional.
Three nights’ accommodation, daily breakfast, air-conditioned transport, and a tour escort or representative are included, along with the listed boat experiences, Ganga Aarti, temple visits and Sarnath sightseeing.
