Behind the iconic Chandler Bing: Netflix's new docuseries honours Matthew Perry's life and legacy

Washington, Sept 30 (UNI) Netflix is inviting audiences to look beyond the sitcom persona with 'The One About Matthew Perry', a three-part docuseries that offers an intimate look at the late actor's life and legacy through memories shared by those who knew him best.
Matthew Perry was known to millions as the quick-witted Chandler Bing, but behind the beloved Friends character was a life marked by love, laughter, addiction and personal struggles.
Described by Maxine Productions as "the first in-depth, definitive documentary about the beloved Friends star, told by some of the people who knew him best", this series features intimate testimonies from close family and friends.
Perry's sister, Mia Perry Bowick, is among those interviewed in the documentary.
In a statement accompanying the docuseries' announcement, Bowick said, "It's taken time for me to feel ready to share these memories and what it was like to love Mathew through all the complexity of his life — to see him as a whole person, not just as Chandler, and not just as someone who struggled with addiction."
"As his sister, he shaped who I am today, the person I strive to be and the work to which I've devoted my life. Matthew had a beautiful heart and a generous spirit, and even in his darkest moments, he could still make you laugh and feel loved. I hope this series gives everyone who loved him, whether personally or from afar, a deeper appreciation for who he truly was and the legacy he leaves behind," she added.
Notably, Mathew Perry died in the year 2003 after taking too much ketamine and drowning in his hot tub. He struggled with drugs and alcohol for much of his life which is also a cause of his death.
'The One About Matthew Perry' series has also been produced by Mary Robertson along with Lisa Kalikow, Eli Holzman and Aaron Saidman. Lora Moftah is co-executive producer whereas Jessica Call is the producer.
Moreover, the docuseries is scheduled to be released in full on Netflix on October 27.
