Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi, Sheeba Chaddha as Manthara in ‘Ramayana'

Mumbai, Oct 9 (UNI) The makers of "Ramayana" have revealed Lara Dutta and Sheeba Chaddha in their respective roles as Queen Kaikeyi and Manthara, introducing two characters whose actions set some of the epic’s most consequential events in motion.
Both these characters are associated with a crucial turning point in the story of "Ramayana", whose decisions and dialogues change the course of Lord Rama's life.
In the posters released by the producers, Dutta is seen in the regal avatar of Queen Kaikeyi. Dressed in traditional attire and jewellery, her look reflects the grandeur of the queen of Ayodhya. Meanwhile, Chaddha is seen in a different avatar as Manthara.
In the film's story, Kaikeyi's two wishes bring about decisive changes in the lives of King Dasharatha and Lord Rama. Meanwhile, Manthara's advice influences Kaikeyi's decision, resulting in Rama's exile and altering the future of Ayodhya's politics and royal family.
Sharing the poster on social media, the makers have presented Kaikeyi's wishes as the turning point in Ram's fate and Manthara's words as the turning point in the course of events.
Earlier, a poster of Arun Govil, who plays King Dasharatha in the film, was released. Arun Govil, who rose to fame as Lord Ram on television, will now be seen in the film as King Dasharatha of Ayodhya.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, 'Ramayana' stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravan, Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravi Dubey as Laxman.
Namit Malhotra's Prime Focus Studios is producing the film in association with DNEG and Yash's Monster Mind Creations. The two-part film will be released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. The first part is scheduled to release worldwide on Diwali 2026 and the second on Diwali 2027. The film will also be released in IMAX format.
