Explosive substances including IED seized from terrorist's houses: DIG

Rayachoti, July 3 (UNI) Deputy Inspector General Koya Praveen has said that the police seized explosive substances including IED from the houses of the two terrorists, who were arrested by
the Tamil Nadu IB officials three days ago in Rayachoti in Annamayya district.

Addressing a press conference here today, DIG Praveen said that the Tamil Nadu IB officials arrested two terrorists 'Abubakar Siddique' and 'Mohammad Ali' in Rayachoti three days ago. The two arrested terrorists were involved in a number of cases including bomb blasts in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

The police conducted a thorough search in their houses and seized explosive material including IED, Fuel oil, Ammonia Nitrate and GunPowder from their houses. The police also seized maps of three main cities and railway networks, the IGP added.

“The two arrested terrorists are affiliated with the 'Al Ummah' terror outfit. They planned to conduct blasts in three cities. The Al Ummah was the biggest militant organization in South India in those days. The police are conducting investigation based on the information provided by the Tamil Nadu police and IB officials,” the DIG asserted, adding that the police are investigating how they acquired the explosive material.
The two terrorists were technical exports and they were involved in the bomb blasts that took place
at Malleswaram in Bangalore city in 2013, the DIG said.

The intelligence officials are on the job of collecting more information about their activities during the last 20 years, the DIG noted. However, the IGP clarified that there is no evidence that the two terrorists trained some youths here.

DIG Praveen said that cases were registered against Mohammad Ali’s wife Sheik Shameem and Sk. Siddiqi’s wife Sheik Sairabhanu produced them before the court today and they were sent to 14 days judicial remand. The two women were sent to the Kadapa central prison.
