Five held for bid to abduct Gurugram man at gunpoint over property deal dispute: Police

Panchkula, Oct 2 (UNI) Haryana Police have arrested five men for allegedly attempting to abduct a Gurugram resident at gunpoint to pressure his father over a property deal, a police spokesman said on Friday.
The accused were arrested by a team of the Crime Branch, Sector 43, Gurugram, on October 1 after an investigation into the September 21 incident at Galleria Market, the spokesman said.
Those arrested have been identified as Praveen, a resident of Nayagaon and currently living in Sector 67, Gurugram; Sumer Singh, a resident of Laxman Vihar and currently living in Raj Nagar, Gurugram; Shiv Shankar, originally from Bihar and currently residing in Palla, Faridabad; and Aman and Hemant, both originally from Madhya Pradesh and currently residing in Delhi's Mithapur.
According to the police spokesman, the complainant had gone to Galleria Market on September 21 and parked his car before visiting a cafe. When he returned and was about to get into his vehicle, three men allegedly entered the car — one occupying the front passenger seat and two getting into the rear. The man in the front allegedly pointed a pistol-like weapon at the complainant and ordered him to accompany them.
“When the complainant resisted, the accused allegedly attempted to fire at him, but the weapon did not discharge,” the spokesman said.
The complainant then drove the car forward, following which the two men sitting in the rear jumped out and fled. He was forced to stop when a scooter came in front of his vehicle, allowing the man in the front passenger seat to escape as well.
The firearm, however, was allegedly left behind inside the car. On the basis of his complaint lodged the following day, a case was registered at Sector 29 Police Station, Gurugram, under the relevant provisions of law.
Police said questioning of the accused revealed that Praveen had earlier entered into a property deal with the complainant's father. The father subsequently struck a deal concerning the property with another person, allegedly leading to a dispute.
According to police, Praveen then contacted Sumer and the two allegedly planned to abduct the complainant to pressure his father into going ahead with the property deal with them or paying them money.
Police alleged that Praveen and Sumer procured a weapon from Nuh for carrying out the plan.
Sumer subsequently brought Shiv Shankar, Aman and Hemant into the alleged conspiracy.
Investigators said that on September 21, Shiv Shankar allegedly entered the front seat of the complainant's car and threatened him with the weapon, while Aman and Hemant occupied the rear seats. Sumer allegedly remained outside the vehicle.
Police said Sumer knew Shiv Shankar from the time he lived in Faridabad, while Aman and Hemant worked with Shiv Shankar.
The five accused are being questioned to establish the full sequence of events and determine whether any other person was involved, the Haryana Police spokesman said, adding that further action would be taken on the basis of the investigation.
