Govt committed to giving Odisha a special sports identity: State Minister

Bhubaneswar, May 25 (UNI) Odisha Minister for Sports Suryavanshi Suraj has said that the government is committed to giving the state a special identity in the world of sports,

"We are working to take Odisha's sportspersons to the world and make world-class sports infrastructure available in every block of Odisha," said Suraj.
Inaugurating a new sports training centre at Pragati Sporting on Saturday, the Minister said strong sports infrastructure, proper training and selection, and spotting and honing of s talent are essential for the overall development of sports and sportspersons.
From constructing stadiums in 314 blocks at a total cost of Rs. 4124 crore, to organisng the CM-Trophy Football Championship for the first time in the state for the development of sports talent at the grassroots level, the government is doing various works in various directions.
He hoped that the Pragati Sporting training centre built at a cost of Rs. 3.65 crore will provide proper training to cricketers and play a vital role in producing successful cricketers in future. UNI BD SSP
