Govt striving to empower the poor, deprived and backward: Chouhan

Patna, June 16 (UNI) Reiterating government's commitment to empower the poor, deprived and backward, Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said on Monday that all out efforts are being made to empower the last person standing in the rung.
Addressing a function organised to celebrate Amar Shaheed Buddhu Nonia's birth centenary here, Chauhan said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar have taken up unprecedented measures for development of poor, backward and deprived sections of the society.
He said every eligible poor of Bihar will get a house under PM Awas Yojana.
Outlining the steps taken for women empowerment, he said that women got respect under the NDA government, which has made continuous efforts to increase the number of Lakhpati Didis and ensure the respect and self-reliance of women.
While talking about one country one election, he said that people of all communities will progress if it was introduced as it will keep pace of development moving ahead without any hindrance. Continuous elections obstruct development work, he added.
Remembering Amar Shaheed Buddhu Nonia' sacrifices and contributions during freedom movement, Chouhan said that the British did not gift freedom on a silver platter, thousands of revolutionaries happily went to the gallows, only then the country got freedom after a tough struggle and sacrifice.
He also highlighted the role of the Nonia community during Salt Satyagraha and said Amar Shaheed Nonia was arrested by deceit and thrown into the cauldron in which salt was made, but even in the cauldron.
Bihar Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, BJP State President Dilip Jaiswal and several other leaders addressed the function. UNI RS SSP
