Haryana cane growers to get higher prices for two seasons, rate to reach Rs 450

Chandigarh, Oct 29 (UNI) Haryana’s sugarcane growers will receive higher prices for two successive seasons, with the rate rising from last year’s Rs 415 per quintal to Rs 430 in 2026-27 and Rs 450 in 2027-28.
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced a phased revision, giving farmers a Rs 15 per quintal increase this season and a further Rs 20 per quintal next season. The final rate will be Rs 35 above the 2025-26 price.
“The sugarcane price will be Rs 430 per quintal in the 2026-27 season and Rs 450 per quintal in 2027-28,” Saini said.
For growers, the immediate increase translates into an additional Rs 1,500 for every 100 quintals sold at the announced rate compared with last season. At next season’s rate, the difference over the same baseline would rise to Rs 3,500 per 100 quintals.
Saini projected that the announced revisions would increase farmers’ income by Rs 10,000 to Rs 11,500 per acre per season.
He said the higher prices would encourage sugarcane production and help ensure adequate supplies to sugar mills.
