Haryana clears Rs 219.91 crore urban projects, claims Rs 18.81 crore savings

Chandigarh, Oct 24 (UNI) The Haryana government on Saturday approved urban development projects worth Rs 219.91 crore covering waste management, roads, water supply, sewerage and other civic infrastructure, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said.
The decisions were taken at a meeting of the High Powered Works Purchase Committee chaired by Saini, where 11 of the 13 proposals placed before the panel received approval, while two were deferred.
According to the government, agencies had submitted bids totalling Rs 233.68 crore, and negotiations resulted in reported savings of Rs 18.81 crore.
However, the difference between the stated bid amount and the approved project value is Rs 13.77 crore. The official statement did not explain the discrepancy.
A major portion of the approvals related to solid waste management.
The committee sanctioned Rs 18.70 crore for processing municipal solid waste generated in the Narnaul cluster, covering Narnaul, Mahendragarh, Kanina, Nangal Chaudhary and Ateli Mandi.
Similar waste processing projects were approved for Gurugram at Rs 38.79 crore and Pratapgarh village in Faridabad at Rs 17.14 crore.
The committee also approved a project to relocate dairy establishments in Hisar to a designated location.
Proposals relating to the development, repair and maintenance of green belts and public parks were also cleared, including improvements in newly approved residential colonies and facilities accessible to persons with disabilities.
In Panipat, Rs 17.94 crore was sanctioned for constructing a banquet hall in Municipal Corporation Ward 20.
Palwal will receive Rs 9.28 crore for developing a model road along the stretch from Agra Chowk to the end of Shraddhanand Park.
The government also cleared the construction of a Municipal Corporation office building in Ballabhgarh.
Faridabad's Sihi village will receive Rs 17.77 crore for strengthening water supply, sewerage, drainage and streetlighting facilities, while Rs 13.85 crore was approved for similar works in Bhudena village.
In Sirsa, Rs 13.29 crore was sanctioned for resurfacing and repairing roads excavated during stormwater drainage works.
"Ensuring the quality of development works and completing them within the stipulated timeframe are among the highest priorities of the state government," Saini said.
He directed departments and executing agencies to ensure that construction standards were maintained and projects completed within their prescribed timelines.
Urban Local Bodies Minister Vipul Goel, Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi and other senior officials attended the meeting.
