Chandigarh, June 27 (UNI) After immediate and swift action by Para Sports Association of Haryana President and Haryana Health Minister Arti Singh Rao, the state Government has sanctioned a prize money of Rs 19.72 crore for cash awards to 13 players from the state who participated in the 4th Para Asian Games (PAG) in 2022.
Among the recipients, Haney, an Athletics player, will receive Rs 3 crore for winning a Gold medal. Nitesh Kumar (Para Badminton), will receive Rs 3 crore for winning a Gold medal and Rs 1.5 crore
for winning the Silver medal.
Sarita Adhana (Para Archery) will receive Rs 1.5 crore for winning the Silver medal. Pooja, Dharambir, Rinku, Parmod, Yogesh Kathuniya, Rampal, and Monu Ghanghas, all Athletes, will each receive Rs 1.50 crore for winning the Silver medal.
Anju Bala, a Para Lawn Ball player, Jasbeer, an Athletics player, and Jaideep, a Canoeing player, will each receive Rs 7.50 lakh for their participation in the games.
In addition, players Pranav Soorma, Raman Sharma, Sumit and Tarun Dhillon, all athletes will also receive Rs 3 crore each for winning gold medals.
Health Minister Rao said, “Our para-athletes have brought immense pride to Haryana and the nation. It was our duty to ensure they are honoured and rewarded without delay. I thank the Hon’ble Chief Minister for taking immediate action. This government is committed to empowering every athlete who overcomes challenges to bring glory to India.”
She further said that the state government is dedicated to building a supportive environment for para-sports and that actions like these show its commitment to inclusivity and putting athletes first.
Notably, the players had met Arti Singh Rao a few days ago regarding the disbursal of cash prizes. Responding promptly, she took up the matter with Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, leading to swift action and disbursal of prize money.
