Haryana Police declares war on drug cartels, gangsters;1.25 lakh CCTVs deployed

Panchkula, Oct 2 (UNI) Haryana Police has directed district units to shift focus from small-time peddlers to dismantling the entire ecosystem supporting narcotics trafficking and organised crime, including financial assets, properties, recruitment channels, and communication networks.
During a high-level review at Police Headquarters, Director General of Police Ajay Singhal instructed officers to identify properties acquired through illegal drug proceeds and begin legal attachment proceedings, including demolition where permitted. He emphasised that the state aims not only to arrest offenders but also to dismantle their financial base.
“Action against individual traffickers will only have limited impact unless we dismantle the entire chain, from organised networks to their financial sources and assets,” Singhal told senior officers, identifying drug eradication as a top priority for Haryana Police. He warned that negligence in narcotics cases at any level will not be tolerated.

HSNCB chief and Additional Director General of Police Sanjay Kumar reiterated the directive to identify and dismantle syndicates involved in the production, trafficking, and distribution of narcotics, while also strengthening intelligence networks to disrupt operations. “No leniency will be shown towards any individual or gang involved in drug trafficking,” he said. With approximately 1.25 lakh CCTV cameras installed across Haryana, Singhal directed district officers to ensure that hotels, banks, jewellery shops, markets, resident welfare associations, and other public spaces are integrated into the surveillance network with road-facing camera coverage. This initiative aims to enhance the tracking of suspects and expedite criminal investigations.
He also addressed crimes against women, the tracing of missing children, and law-and-order management during protests and demonstrations. Singhal instructed officers to handle cases involving women and children with the utmost sensitivity and promptness, while maintaining robust operational plans to address any sensitive law-and-order situation.
With these directives, Haryana Police has shifted from a reactive policing model to a proactive strategy that targets not only criminals but also the infrastructure supporting organised crime.
