Haryana: SIT constituted to probe torture of Dalit woman in police station

Kaithal (Haryana), July 1 (UNI) A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed after the registration of an FIR in the case of an alleged assault on a Dalit woman in a Haryana police station, a top official said today.
The FIR has been lodged against unknown persons, DSP Bir Bhan told media persons.
Kaithal district police superintendent Aastha Modi has entrusted investigation of the case to an SIT headed by DSP Sushil Prakash.
The team also includes one woman sub-inspector and one more cop .
Meanwhile it is learnt that the state commission for Scheduled Castes has sought a complete report from Kaithal Deputy commissioner and SP by July 3 .
It is pertinent to mention here that the Dalit woman residing in Siwan area was called to the local police station on Sunday in connection with the investigation of a case of a missing girl.
The family members of the woman alleged that she was tortured by the staff of Siwan police station and later had to be admitted in the govt hospital here.
Family members and public representatives of Siwan called on the DC and SP yesterday and demanded an inquiry and action against the guilty cops. UNI XC SSP
