Haryana targeting $1 trillion economy by 2047, has fulfilled 76 of 217 poll promises: CM Saini

Ambala, Nov 5 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Thursday unveiled an ambitious vision to transform the state into a $1 trillion economy by 2047, saying his government had fulfilled 76 of its 217 electoral promises and was working to implement the remaining 141 commitments.
Addressing a gathering at the inauguration of the "Azadi Ki Pehli Ladai Ka Shaheed Smarak" in Ambala Cantonment by union Home Minister Amit Shah, Saini said Haryana was moving towards becoming a developed state through transparent governance, merit-based recruitment, social welfare and accelerated economic growth.
"We do not merely count promises; we fulfil them," Saini said, asserting that the BJP government was committed to delivering on every assurance made to the people.
The Chief Minister said Shah had unveiled Haryana's Vision 2047 document, setting out a long-term roadmap for economic development, industrial expansion, infrastructure, employment generation and public welfare.
"Our goal is to make Haryana a $1 trillion economy by 2047," he said, linking the state's development ambitions to the centenary of India's Independence.
Saini said the inauguration of the memorial marked a historic occasion for Haryana and paid tribute to the sacrifices of freedom fighters whose contributions had remained largely unrecognised.
"A new chapter of history, courage and national pride has been written on the soil of Ambala today," he said.
The Chief Minister asserted that the uprising of 1857 had begun in Ambala and inspired a wave of nationalism that eventually contributed to India's freedom movement. He said the memorial would preserve the legacy of those who sacrificed their lives fighting British colonial rule.
"This memorial will not remain merely a structure of bricks and stones. It will become a pilgrimage centre of patriotism," Saini said. He added that young visitors would be able to understand the courage and sacrifices of freedom fighters through the memorial's historical exhibits and modern presentation facilities.
Praising Shah's leadership, Saini compared his determination with that of India's first Home Minister, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. "Once Amit Shah resolves to accomplish something, he does not rest until it is achieved," he said, citing the abrogation of Article 370, the removal of Article 35A in Jammu and Kashmir and the introduction of three new criminal laws.
Saini said Shah had demonstrated political determination and administrative resolve in implementing decisions that had once appeared difficult to achieve. He also credited the union Home Minister with strengthening the cooperative sector through the Ministry of Cooperation and its "Sahkar Se Samriddhi" initiative.
Highlighting Haryana's achievements, Saini said more than two lakh young people had secured government jobs on merit during nearly 12 years of BJP rule, claiming that the government had eliminated the earlier system of recommendations and illegal payments in public recruitment.
He said transparency and accountability had become central to the administration, while welfare schemes were being implemented to ensure that benefits reached the poorest sections of society.
The Chief Minister said Haryana provided a monthly pension of Rs 40,000 to freedom fighters, which he described as the highest in the country. He also highlighted the state's provision of Rs 1 crore in ex-gratia assistance to eligible families of soldiers and Agniveers who lose their lives in qualifying service-related circumstances.
Saini said Haryana had taken the lead in implementing the three new criminal laws introduced by the Centre to replace colonial-era legislation.
He also cited improvement in the state's sex ratio at birth, saying it had crossed 900 girls per 1,000 boys following sustained efforts under the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao initiative.
The Chief Minister said the BJP's governments at the Centre and in Haryana were working together to strengthen infrastructure, improve public services and promote inclusive development.
He said the focus on good governance, transparency and Antyodaya had accelerated the state's development over the past 12 years.
Welcoming Shah to Ambala, Saini said the union Home Minister had a special connection with Haryana and had consistently supported initiatives aimed at strengthening security, governance and development.
The memorial, developed over approximately 22 acres at a cost of around Rs 800 crore, commemorates the martyrs of the 1857 uprising through historical galleries, audiovisual exhibits and interactive displays.
Saini said the project would help future generations understand the contribution of Haryana and other regions to India's struggle for independence.
Union Power Minister Manohar Lal, Haryana Energy Minister Anil Vij and several senior leaders attended the inauguration.
