Heat wave continues as Jammu sizzles at 43.6 degree Celsius

Jammu, June 12 (UNI) There has been no letup in the intense heatwave conditions on Thursday as the maximum temperatures continued to settle above normal in the parts of Jammu province.
The Jammu district, however, recorded another hottest day of the season with maximum temperature notching at 43.6 degree Celsius.
Jammu City recorded slight improvement but continued to witness above normal temperatures, as it recorded a maximum temperature of 43.6 degrees Celsius on Thursday against Friday’s 44.4 degrees Celsius and figured among the top ‘hot spots’ ranking 68th hottest place across the globe, said an official.
Meanwhile, Katra recorded a maximum temperature of 39.5 degrees Celsius, Banihal, Batote and Bhaderwah recorded a maximum temperature of 33.8 degrees Celsius, 33.0 degrees Celsius and 34.0 degrees Celsius, respectively.
“A brief spell of light rain and thundershower is expected at isolated to scattered places, accompanied by thunder and gusty winds from June 14 to 17,” he added.

Punjab: Mann govt’s land pooling scheme unconstitutional, anti-farmer, says Chugh

Ludhiana, Jun 13 (UNI) BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh today came down heavily on Punjab's Bhagwant Mann government, berating its "unconstitutional and anti-farmer policies" including the land pooling scheme and demanded it be withdrawn immediately.

During his campaign for the Ludhiana West Assembly bypoll, Chugh met farmer delegations, especially from 37 villages affected by the land pooling scheme. He was handed a detailed memorandum by the farmers, seeking urgent intervention and protection of their land rights.
