Heavy rain likely in Rayalaseema on June 12–13: Met

Amaravati, June 9 (UNI) The Meteorological Centre has forecast heavy rainfall at isolated places in Rayalaseema on June 12 and 13.

In its daily weather report issued on Monday, the Meteorological Center also predicted similar weather conditions for North Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam on June 11, and for South
Coastal Andhra Pradesh on June 12.

Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (30–50 km/h) are likely to occur at
isolated places across Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Rayalaseema over the next five
days.

The report also stated that light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely at many, few, or isolated places across the same regions during the next seven days.

A trough currently extends from north Tamil Nadu to the south Maharashtra coast across Interior Karnataka, at an altitude of 3.1 to 4.5 km above mean sea level. Another trough runs from a
cyclonic circulation over northwest Uttar Pradesh to Telangana, passing through Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha, at 0.9 km above mean sea level.

Additionally, an upper air cyclonic circulation lies over the northwest Bay of Bengal, extending to
north coastal Odisha and south Gangetic West Bengal, at 1.5 to 5.8 km above mean sea level.

In the last 24 hours, heavy rainfall was reported in Anantapur district of Rayalaseema. Rainfall was also recorded at one or two places in Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, and at a few places in Rayalaseema, the report added.
