Hyd: 151 officer trainees to participate in IPS Dikshant Parade on Oct 17

Hyderabad, Oct 15 (UNI) A total of 151 officer trainees, including 135 IPS probationers and 16 foreign officers, will participate in the Dikshant Parade at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) on October 17.
Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan will be the chief guest at the ceremony, according to Academy Director Sujeet Pandey.
The batch includes 37 women IPS probationers, while the foreign trainees are from Nepal, Bhutan and the Maldives.
Pandey said the training programme emphasised public safety, protection of vulnerable sections and policing that remained sensitive to citizens' rights and needs.
Apart from conventional policing, the trainees are being equipped to address emerging challenges through specialised modules on cybercrime, financial fraud, cryptocurrency, darknet operations, drug trafficking, drone threats and artificial intelligence.
Training has also been strengthened in machine learning, cybersecurity and big data analytics, with media management, communication skills, fire safety and disaster management incorporated into the programme, he said.
The IPS probationers joined the academy after completing their 15-week Foundation Course at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration in Mussoorie. Their 49-week Phase-I training covers criminal laws, investigation, forensic science, internal security, public order, criminology, police management and human rights, besides physical fitness, weapons training, drill, yoga and field tactics.
The programme combines classroom instruction with practical exposure through police station visits, crowd management exercises and specialised training with Telangana's Greyhounds, the Indo-Tibetan Border Police and the Border Security Force.
The probationers will next undergo a four-week attachment in Delhi with Central Police Organisations and Central Armed Police Forces, including exposure to the Central Reserve Police Force and the Indian Army.
They will subsequently undertake 29 weeks of district practical training in their respective cadres or states before returning to the academy on June 21, 2027, for a nine-week Phase-II training programme, he added.
