Hyd: Cyber Crime offender from Andhra Pradesh held for missing SIM cards registered with fake addresses

Hyderabad, May 1 (UNI) The Banjara Hills Police on Thursday arrested a cyber crime offender Shaik Munwar Basha, a SIM promoter and Field Sales Executive (FSE), for allegedly misusing SIM cards registered with fake addresses and utilizing demo SIMs allocated to him.
The accused, a resident of Tadepalligudem ( Andhra Pradesh state), was arrested by Banjara Hills Police with Assistance from Zonal Cyber Cell – West Zone, a police release said here.
Shaik Munwar was actively involved in cybercrime activities, in collusion with other cyber criminals.
These individuals used mule SIM cards to perpetrate various cyber frauds, particularly targeting OLX users.
The accused would search for genuine advertisements related to iPhone mobiles, copy the content, and repost it as his own.
When potential buyers responded to his fraudulent advertisement, Munwar and his associates would coordinate over the phone, directing both the buyer and the actual seller to a common location.
After receiving the payment online, they would switch off their mobile phone and disappear, leaving the victims defrauded.
The accused is involved in 14 such cases, using three different mobile numbers, across the twin states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
He was remanded to judicial custody.
