Hyd: Cyber Crime Police crack Online Job Fraud

Hyderabad, May 25 (UNI):The City Cyber Crime Police, have busted a cyber fraud racket involved in an elaborate fake work-from-home scam.
The operation led to the arrest of four persons who conned a Hyderabad woman out of Rs 8,75,148 through deceptive online job schemes under the guise of a reputed company, said Dara Kavitha, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Cyber Crimes,Hyderabad City, in a release here on Sunday.
The accused arrested are Manoj Diwakar, Nagiri Vijay, Sanapathi Kishore Babu ( all residents of Hyderabad ) and ThirunagariSantosh Kumar alias Santosh, resident of RangaReddy.
The accused persons facilitated the fraud by providing and operating multiple bank accounts, debit/credit cards, and payment devices to receive, distribute, and launder the victim's funds, concealing the money trail and supporting the scam’s backend operations.
Based on a complaint received from a victim recently, a case has been registered under Sections 66C & 66D of the Information Technology Act and Sections 111(2)(b), 318(4), 319(2), 336(3), 338, and 340(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
In her complaint the victim reported that she was contacted via Telegram by a recruiter impersonating an HR from "Accor Advantage Plus Marketing (India) Pvt. Ltd" through a fraudulent website: https://accorworks.site.
She was given a trial task of “online hotel bookings” with the promise of high commissions and daily income ranging from Rs 17,000–Rs18,000. Initially, she was made to invest Rs 10,000 and received a return of Rs 1,000 and later Rs17,800 and Rs 45,300, which built her trust.
Later, under the pretext of "minus balance" due to special high-value tasks such as "GOLD SUIT BOOKINGS" and “Anniversary Special Offers”, she was repeatedly made to pay larger sums of money.
The fraudsters eventually convinced her to deposit a security amount of Rs 7.91 lakhs to release an alleged earning of Rs 15.82 lakhs, which never materialized.
Modus operandi of accused used fake websites and Telegram channels mimicking legitimate companies.
They recruited victims with false job offers and assigned task-based commissions.

Created false account "minus balances" through rigged booking tasks.
Demanded huge sums as deposits for "special offers" and "security clearance."
Seized eight debit cards; seven bank pass books , seven cheque books besides four mobile phones and one swiping machine from the possesion of the accused.
