Hyderabad must be transformed into clean, traffic-free city: CM Revanth Reddy

Hyderabad, Nov 2 (UNI) Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Monday directed officials to take comprehensive measures to transform the Hyderabad metropolitan area into a clean and traffic-free city, stressing that there should be no negligence in waste collection and traffic management.
During a review meeting with municipal officials at his residence in Jubilee Hills, the Chief Minister instructed officials to ensure daily door-to-door garbage collection and continuous monitoring to prevent waste accumulation anywhere in the city.
He warned that strict action would be taken against officials and staff found negligent in their duties.
He also directed officials to make special arrangements for the removal of construction debris and coordinate with industrial area associations (ILA) to ensure proper waste collection in industrial zones.
Emphasising the need to conserve drinking water, Revanth Reddy asked officials to promote the use of treated wastewater supplied through 'green tankers' for construction activities, park maintenance, landscaping and gardening instead of using potable water.
He recalled that the Water Board had launched the first phase of the initiative with 28 green water tankers, drawing treated wastewater from 19 Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs).
He directed officials to expand the service to areas under the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), as well as the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) and Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MMC)
Focusing on traffic management, the Chief Minister instructed officials to prepare comprehensive plans to ease congestion and ensure smooth movement of vehicles across the city.
He called for the construction of underpasses and elevated corridors wherever necessary to establish a signal-free traffic system.
He stressed that traffic flow should remain uninterrupted as far as possible and vehicles should not be held up at traffic signals.
MP Vem Narender Reddy, Chief Minister's Secretary Manik Raj, HMDA Commissioner Sarfaraz Ahmed, Municipal Commissioner G. Srujana and other officials attended the review meeting, according to an official statement.
