Hyderabad’s Woxsen Univ partners with Spain’s Galicia Badminton Federation to advance Olympic-level sports collaboration

Hyderabad, June 25 (UNI) Woxsen University, India, and Spain's Galicia Badminton Federation (FGB) have entered into a strategic partnership to integrate academic and athletic development.
The agreement was formalised at the Xunta de Galicia headquarters in Pontevedra, in the presence of key representatives including Rodrigo Sanjurjo Pose, President of FGB; Rafael Vázquez, Sports Director; Lago López Roel, Sports Psychologist; and Dr. Anik Nandi, representing Woxsen University, a Hyderabad-based Private university, said a release here.
This collaboration establishes a framework that leverages scientific insight, educational exchange, and performance training.
It underscores Galicia’s position as a forward-leaning centre for sports innovation and knowledge transfer, while expanding Woxsen University’s global engagements in sports education and research.
As part of this alliance, academic and athletic scholarships covering up to 100 percent will be extended annually to selected Galician athletes for higher studies at Woxsen. In reciprocity, Woxsen students will have access to structured training modules at the Galicia Badminton Federation for immersive international learning in sports along with scholarships covering up to 100 percent.
The partnership also includes student exchange programmes, enabling collaboration on interdisciplinary and applied research projects, particularly in the field of sports performance.
Dr. Raul V. Rodriguez, Vice-President of Woxsen University, said “This collaboration reflects Woxsen’s strategic intent to integrate global academic partnerships with high-impact disciplines such as sports science. By aligning academic insight with professional athletic training, we are creating meaningful opportunities for students, faculty, and athletes to engage in purposeful global exchange and knowledge creation.”
The joint training initiatives are designed with a focus on Olympic-level preparation, supporting athlete development through a tailored, evidence-based approach.
Several research-led programmes are already underway, reflecting a long-term institutional commitment to elevating outcomes in both academics and athletics.
“Our partnership with Woxsen University introduces new avenues for training, education, and research, contributing to a broader ecosystem for sports development.” Stated Rodrigo Sanjurjo Pose, President of the Galicia Badminton Federation.
