Indefinite dharna by ABVP at BHU enters tenth day, students stage a symbolic corpse demonstration

Varanasi, Oct 2 (UNI) The indefinite dharna by the BHU unit of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) continued for the tenth day on Friday, raising 10-point demands related to student safety, campus management, and other basic issues at Banaras Hindu University (BHU).
Protesting against the "lack of concrete action" on their demands, ABVP workers staged a symbolic corpse demonstration near the Vishwanath Temple complex. The workers symbolically lay down as corpses to register their protest against the university administration.
BHU unit president Pallav Suman said that despite the strike continuing for ten days, no concrete action has been taken on the students' demands. He demanded the resignation of the Chief Proctor and effective steps to ensure the safety of students on campus.
Unit secretary Anurag Tiwari said that there is a need to strengthen security on campus, install CCTV cameras and adequate streetlights, prevent unauthorized entry, and ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of Madhuban Park.
ABVP has demanded action against the Chief Proctor and Proctorial Board, a review of cases filed against students, improved security, and transparency in administrative decisions, among other demands.
The organization stated that the protest will continue until a satisfactory decision is reached on the demands.
