Indian Army’s Assam Regiment clinches gold at Cambrian Patrol 2026 in UK

New Delhi, Oct 13 (UNI) The Indian Army’s Assam Regiment has won a Gold Medal at Exercise Cambrian Patrol 2026, held in Wales, the United Kingdom, emerging among the 10 teams awarded gold in the prestigious international military patrolling competition.
The Indian contingent competed against more than 100 teams from across the world, demonstrating endurance, tactical proficiency, leadership and teamwork during the demanding exercise held in October.
Organised by the British Army, Exercise Cambrian Patrol is an internationally recognised military competition that tests the operational effectiveness, physical stamina and tactical capabilities of participating teams under simulated battlefield conditions.
Conducted over approximately 48 gruelling hours, the exercise requires teams to navigate challenging mountainous terrain while carrying out a series of military tasks, including reconnaissance, navigation, casualty evacuation, tactical decision-making and combat drills. The participants are assessed under stringent operational and time constraints, testing their ability to operate effectively in difficult conditions.
The Assam Regiment contingent successfully negotiated the challenges, demonstrating fieldcraft, operational preparedness, mental resilience and coordination. The achievement highlights the regiment’s training standards and the professional competence of Indian Army personnel operating in an international competitive environment.
The gold medal also reflects the Indian Army’s emphasis on combat readiness, adaptability and teamwork, with personnel required to make sound tactical decisions while operating under physical and mental stress.
The achievement embodies the Army’s transformational spirit of ‘JAI se VIJAY’ and the ethos of the vigilant and battle-ready Yoddha, whose determination, adaptability and commitment to excellence remain central to operational effectiveness.
The Assam Regiment’s performance further underscores the Indian Army’s participation in international military engagements aimed at demonstrating professional capabilities and testing soldiers against demanding standards set by foreign armed forces.
