Iran claims it has downed an Israeli F-35 jet; Israel terms it ‘false news’

Tel Aviv/Tehran, June 18 (UNI) Iran said its air defense forces have shot down an Israeli F-35 fighter jet over the city of Varamin in Iran's Tehran province, a claim Israel has rejected.
"The army's air defense forces hit and destroyed an enemy Israeli F-35 fighter jet in ... ​​Varamin," the head of Varamin County was quoted as saying by the state-run IRNA news agency.

Israel has rejected the statement, calling it baseless.
The Israeli Defence Forces said that it has no knowledge of any such incident, with Tel Aviv calling the report "false news", reports Times of Israel.

The Israeli Air Force carried out several waves of attacks across Iran last Friday, including in Tehran, killing several high level officials, including its key nuclear researchers, the COAS of the Iranian Armed Forces, the country’s Presidential Advisor, and the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Several nuclear sites, including Natanz and Fordow, were also hit.

Iran has vowed retribution and has been continuously attacking Israel, with over 24 citizens killed so far. Israel has deeply intensified its attacks since, targeting several areas in Tehran, and destroying Iran’s Mashhad and Tabriz air bases.
