Istanbul to host 2027 Spanish Supercopa across three stadiums

Madrid, Sep 18 (UNI) The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has presented this season's Supercopa at an event in Istanbul.
The four-team tournament will see La Liga champion FC Barcelona face Atletico Madrid in the first semifinal on February 2, while Copa del Rey winner Real Sociedad meets Real Madrid the following day. The final will be played on February 6.

Unlike recent editions, the Supercopa will be staged across three venues in Istanbul: Barcelona against Atletico at Fenerbahce's Sukru Saracoglu Stadium, the second semifinal at Besiktas's Vodafone Park and the final at Galatasaray's Ali Sami Yen Stadium.
"There will be three great matches in three great stadiums capable of hosting a total of over 150,000 spectators," said RFEF President Rafael Louzan.
"Istanbul has hosted the Champions League finals in 2005 and 2023, as well as the 2026 Europa League final."
"It boasts the necessary infrastructure, stadiums, and a passionate fan base. We are certain that Istanbul will fully embrace the Supercup."
The RFEF said Istanbul was chosen from seven candidate cities. Saudi Arabia, which had hosted the Supercopa since 2020 except for 2021, was unavailable this year as it will stage the AFC Asian Cup in early 2027, according to Xinhua.

Louzan said the event would be "an extraordinary occasion that will also boost the city's tourism and international profile."
