J&K Sports Minister flags off 'Run for Peace and Innovation'

Jammu, June 29 (UNI) In a powerful demonstration of youth empowerment, innovation and communal harmony, Jammu and Kashmir Sports Minister Satish Sharma flagged off 'Run for Peace and Innovation' here at the University of Jammu on Sunday.

The run was organised by the Department of Tourism in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce, India and it was flagged off in presence of senior officials, academicians, entrepreneurs and hundreds of enthusiastic students.

The run brought together diverse participants from across the region including students, innovators, sports persons, peace advocates, and professionals, all united in a common vision of promoting peace, creativity and inclusive progress.

The initiative aimed at fostering a spirit of harmony while encouraging the youth to engage in innovative thinking for nation-building.

Addressing the gathering, Satish Sharma lauded the initiative and highlighted the government’s commitment towards promoting youth driven innovation, physical fitness and peace-building activities.

“Peace and innovation are the twin engines of progress in any society. Jammu and Kashmir, with its vibrant youth and rich potential, can lead the way in shaping a resilient, inclusive and innovative future,” he said.

The Minister emphasized that such events offer a vital platform for young minds to connect, collaborate and lead in both social and entrepreneurial arenas.

He further appreciated the Department of Tourism and the Chamber of Commerce for their collaborative efforts in organizing a socially impactful initiative.

During the event, a special ‘Innovation Showcase’ corner was set up where young entrepreneurs and university startups displayed breakthrough ideas in areas like green energy, sustainable tourism and social tech.

The run concluded with a cultural program and prize distribution ceremony, where the Minister felicitated the top performers. He appreciated all the participants for being ambassadors of peace and progress.
