Jharkhand: Bokaro displaced families continue hunger strike

Bokaro, Oct 20 (UNI) Displaced families demanding jobs at Bokaro Steel Plant continued their hunger strike for the 11th day on Tuesday, with Congress leaders Rajesh Thakur and Anupama Singh visiting the protest site to extend support to the agitators.
Congress MLA Shweta Singh has also joined the protest, which is being organised by the Displaced Apprentices Association and displaced families.
Thakur, a former Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee president, said the party would approach the Supreme Court if necessary in connection with the matter. He questioned the court order concerning the agitation, saying the protest had been peaceful.
Thakur alleged that the Bokaro Steel Plant management had not adequately addressed the demands of families who had given their land for the project. He also criticised the alleged lack of engagement with MLA Shweta Singh during the agitation.
The Congress leader reiterated that the party would support the displaced families in their demand for justice.
