Kaithal: Two railway overbridges proposed to ease traffic problem

Satish Seth
Kaithal, Oct 2 (UNI) To overcome the traffic problem on the railway line passing through Kaithal city, Railway Overbridges (ROBs) are being constructed at two major railway crossings, including at the Karnal Road crossing and the railway crossing near the New Bus Stand.
The Railway Department will construct the two ROBs proposed at the railway crossing connected near the new bus stand on Karnal Road and Hisar-Chandigarh National Highway.
Proposals for both the projects were sent to Railways by NHAI. Railways has also started its own process for these projects.
The Project cost of the two proposed overbridges is estimated about Rs 50- crore each.

Proposals worth about Rs 50 crore each have been prepared for both the ROBs.
Drawings and estimates of the projects have been prepared.
Related proposals from PWD have been sent to Railways through NHAI.
According to departmental officials, the proposed ROB on Karnal Road will be about one kilometer long. It is proposed to start from in front of Jat School Ground and go beyond Sir Chhotu Ram Chowk via Hanuman Vatika.
It is proposed to erect about nine pillars on both sides of the ROB and keep the height of the ROB above the railway crossing at about 6.7 meters.
Long queues of vehicles during closure of railway gates causes a lot of trouble to drivers and pedestrians.
After construction of the ROB, traffic is expected to continue through the bridge even when the gate is closed.
An ROB will also be built at the railway gate located on the new bus stand route.
According to NHAI XEN Anil Dahiya, ROBs will be built at the gates located on Karnal Road and New Bus Stand Road on the railway line in Kaithal city.
Railways has said that it will do the construction work of both the ROBs.
