KAL to manufacture electric scooters

Thiruvananthapuram, June 23 (UNI) Kerala Automobiles Limited (KAL) has established a joint venture with Mumbai-based Lords Automotives Private Limited for the manufacturing and marketing of electric scooters.
KAL, a Government of Kerala undertaking, also aims to launch electric autos in North India, develop new models with improved mileage and comfort, and create electric pick-ups with over 500 kg load capacity.
The KAL also plans to expand the marketing of garbage carts to neighbouring states and customise e-carts into mobile food carts.
The company will launch three newly developed electric vehicles, the Mini E-Cart, the E-Cart Plus, and the Electric Buggy, in the presence of State Industries Minister P. Rajeeve on June 25.
With a 60 cm track width and a payload capacity of 150 kg, Mini E-Cart is ideal for transporting goods within campuses, farms, construction sites, and through narrow lanes. It can also be used for waste management.
With an 85 cm track width and a payload capacity of 310 kg, the Mini E-Cart Plus can be used for a variety of cargo transport needs. Features include a customisable carriage box and tipping mechanism. It is roadworthy and suitable for waste disposal.
With a track width of 85 cm and a seating capacity for a driver plus four passengers, the electric buggy is ideal for transport within campuses, colleges, resorts, and hospitals.
KAL also houses a modern machine shop capable of supplying high-precision components to aerospace and defence organisations like VSSC, ISRO, BrahMos, and LPSC. This includes 5 VMCs, 3 CNC turning centres, EDM, wire-cutting machines, and broaching machines.
As part of expanding its marketing network, the company plans to appoint more dealers and set up authorised service centres in every district.
