Kerala: Two youths drown, die

Palakkad, Jun 26 (UNI) Two youths drowned to death in Palakkad and Malappuram districts of Kerala today, police said,
According to police, a 20-year-old youth was washed away at Karuvarakundu waterfalls in Nilambur taluk. The deceased was identified as Ramshad (20), of Tharisu near Karuvarakundu district.
A five member group went to Karuvarakundu waterfalls (tourism destination centre in Malappuram), and two of them were washed away including Ramshad and Rasheed around 1230 p.m, while bathing.
Their friends alerted the local residents about the incident and the local divers rescued Rasheed and rushed him to Nilambur district hospital. Later the Fire force personnel recovered Ramshad's body and shifted it to Nilambur district hospital.
Meanwhile, the body of Pranav (21), of Kazhani near Kavassery, also a third year under graduate student of Alathur SN college, was recovered by local residents from Pattambi this morning.
He was washed away while bathing at Gayathri River, near Tirur, on June 24 evening. Gayathri river is the tributary of the Bharathapuzha river, flowing through Palakkad and Thrissur districts and joining the Bharathapuzha at Mayannur.
Search operation was conducted by Fire force personnel and scuba divers for the last three days at Gayathri river at Kavassery areas and the body was found about 50 KM away from Pattambi. UNI AK RKM SSP
