Kishan Reddy lays foundation for Rs 40 cr Sabar Dairy plant in Telangana

Hyderabad, Oct 4 (UNI) union Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy on Sunday performed the Bhoomi Puja for the Sabar Dairy milk processing plant at JRJA Industrial Park in Toopran mandal of Medak district.
The dairy plant, being established with an investment of around Rs 400 crore using Amul technology, is expected to be completed within 18 months and generate employment opportunities, particularly for women and youth. Milk procured from local farmers will be processed into products including milk, curd, buttermilk, lassi, paneer, ice cream and ghee, providing greater value addition and income to dairy farmers.
Addressing the gathering, Kishan Reddy stressed the need to strengthen the cooperative movement in Telangana and reduce farmers' dependence on middlemen. He said cooperative societies could create employment, empower women and provide additional income to small and marginal farmers.
He said the Centre's White Revolution 2.0 aims to establish 75,000 new dairy cooperative societies across the country by 2029, including 1,525 in Telangana. He urged farmers and women's groups to form dairy cooperatives and utilise available bank loans for purchasing livestock and expanding dairy activities.
Kishan Reddy said Sabar Dairy, which began in 1964 with 19 cooperative societies and collection of 5,100 litres of milk a day, now processes around 50 lakh litres daily, involves about 50,000 milk producers and recorded a turnover of Rs 10,500 crore in 2025-26.
He said Telangana should play a key role in the new White Revolution by strengthening dairy farmers, empowering women and making villages economically self-reliant.
State Ministers Gaddam Vivek Venkataswamy and Duddilla Sridhar Babu, MP M. Raghunandan Rao, Sabar Dairy Chairman and other officials attended the programme.
