Kohli sets IPL record with 1,159 against PBKS

Kohli sets IPL record with 1,159 against PBKS

Ahmedabad, June 3 (UNI) Star batsman Virat Kohli added another feather to his already illustrious cap, becoming the highest run-scorer against a single opponent in the Indian Premier League (IPL), during the IPL 2025 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) stalwart now boasts a staggering 1,159 runs against Punjab Kings (PBKS), surpassing his own previous best of 1,146 runs against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). He also features prominently with 1,130 runs against Delhi Capitals (DC), underlining his unmatched consistency across seasons.

Kohli's run against PBKS includes a century and six half-centuries, with his highest score being 113. Across 36 innings, he has maintained an average of 36.21 and a strike rate of 132.60. His prolific form this season also saw him climb to third on the Orange Cap list, with 657 runs.

During the same match, Kohli scripted another landmark by overtaking Shikhar Dhawan for the most fours in IPL history. He moved past Dhawan’s 768 boundaries with a vintage shot through the covers, reaching a new record tally of 770 IPL fours.

Australian opener David Warner, another modern-day great, finds himself just behind Kohli with 1,134 runs against PBKS and 1,093 against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Meanwhile, India’s Rohit Sharma completes the top six with 1,083 runs against KKR.

Kohli’s dominance in IPL history now includes multiple all-time records: most runs in the tournament overall, most runs against a single opponent, and most boundaries. His longevity, fitness, and hunger for runs continue to make him a cornerstone of RCB’s success and a standard-bearer of excellence in the IPL.
