Kolkata, June 30 (UNI) Services of Kolkata Metro Railway, the backbone of the city's transport system, were affected today following waterlogging in parts of the central and southern network, following heavy overnight and early morning hours rains, official sources said.
Sources said the truncated services were being run from Kavi Subash to Maidan station in the south and from Dakshineswar to Girish Park station in the sections where the track remained unaffected.
The disruption part was between Girish Park station in central and Maidan, the seven stations in the middle of the total 29 km stretch. The work was going on to dewater the track by deploying pumps.
The overnight rains also affected the surface communication as important junctions were waterlogged, and the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMS) also deployed pumps to clear the roads.
